Protestors as Youth Leaders
The other day I was driving in town and saw several adults standing outside on the side walk of a shopping center that housed a Pro choice office. As I drove by you hear people honking and waving as if to give their support of them. Then you hear others shouting choice words or you see the sign language as they pass by. All I could do was feel bad for them.

Obviously, this is not the image that I saw as I drove down the road. However, it is a reminder of what it often looks like when we see large groups of protesting. While I am not bashing the need to stand for what you believe I do sense that there may be a better way. Here are my thoughts:
1. Time is valuable – Is this the best way to communicate with the limited time that is available.
2. People do not respond -I have never heard of anyone not going forward with a decision due to a sign that was being held on the sidewalk.
3. People matter – If people really do matter most then we must minister to people.
4. No personal contact – When it comes to changing lives and making a difference it is all about relationships.
What if they became youth leaders? Now I know most of you are going I do not want a ministry of crazy pro-life people. I understand that totally. No ministry should ever be driven by a single issue. It should be focused on the Bible holistically and the teens we are ministering with. However, if these adults would spend time working with students they may actually help keep a student from making that decision to begin with. We as leaders could use some people who are passionate about the decisions that they see students making.
It is my experience that if we spend time developing realtionships with students they will follow the lead that we give them. Then we see life change and have the opportunity to impact the lives of those around us.
