Dealing with Sin
Sin is one of those things that we tend to not talk about in our life circles. It is as if we know it exists and we would prefer to talk about the weather than build close relationships with people. Over my time in ministry and through studying scripture I have found that there are three ways that we often deal with sin.
1. We try to ignore it – in doing this we do not have to admit it exists or hold someone else accountable.
2. We try to deal with it through shear determination – the problem with this is that we somehow create the idea that we can overcome sin without the help of others.
3. We indulge it or give into it – this seems to be the easiest way for us in dealing with the struggles that we have in life.
Even if these resonate with you as they do with me we have to work hard at overcoming the sin that so easily entangles our lives. We need to invite others into our lives that will hold us accountable for the sins that we are facing. Providing us with the emotional support and reasoning that we need. One obvious step that is often our last is that we must go before God and let him know what is happening and ask for His guidance and strength as we overcome.
How do you deal with sin or help others overcome sin in their lives?
