Desires in a Preacer…
In a recent prayer meeting one of our elders had us go through and look at the books of 1 and 2 Timothy and see the instructions that Paul is giving to Timothy as a young preacher. As we are currently searching for a new preacher there was great insight into what we should be looking for. I thought that this was really good information that needed to be shared with others. So, here you go.
1 Timothy
1. Defender of the truth – 1:3,4
2. He is to be prayerful and an encourager of prayer – 2:1,2
3. The minister is to be a leader of leaders – 3:1-12
4. Spiritually fit – 4:7,8
5. An example for the church – 4:12
6. A person who uses their gifts – 4:13,14
2 Timothy
7. Sincere Faith – 1:5
8. Humble confidence/boldness – 1:6,7
9. Strong in grace and an equipper of others – 2:1,2
10. Focused and undistracted – 2:3,4
11. Preach the Word – 4:1-5
12. Team Player – 4:9-11
The only difficulty in looking at all of this is that I am not sure I match up. Often it is good for us to stop listening to all of those who encourage us and just look at what scripture says we should be. These 12 desires are definitely a good place to start.

yes there has to be some accountability. But just like anything else, people want to find someone else to blame
