I am on a journey to see how God will use me in this messy thing called the "Church." While on that journey I have just recently moved to a new role as a Sr. Pastor. Not real sure what that means really, but God is moving and I will follow the wave as it goes.

Build your online community

Over the last several weeks I have been looking at blog strategy and trying to figure out where I am headed with this blog and the need behind it.  As I have researched the web there are three articles that I have come across that have been very helpful in determining where I am headed with my blog.

1.  12 Keys to Building Online Community – in this article David Siteman Garland an entrepreneur shares some great insight into creating a community.  One of the 12 keys that he shares is consistency.  People just won’t come to your sight because they like you, unless its your mom.  You have to be out there and living life online before people will come to be a part of your community.

2.  7 Ways to Build Your Online Platform from Scratch – in the article Michael Hyatt CEO of Thomas Nelson and blogger extraordinaire shares his insight.  While Michael also goes down the path of creating consistency to your blog so that people know when to expect you.  He goes a little further and shares that we must also make sure that what we are writing has been written well.  If we want to draw an audience we can not just write our thoughts without leading people down a path.  People want to go somewhere and your blog is a great place for them to join you in your journey.

3.  Why Blogging is taking over my lifeKyle Reed a good friend and avid blogger shares that sometimes you don’t need to post everyday.  If blogging is running your life then you are probably doing it too often.  It needs to be fresh and new and has to come out of the overflow of your life.  When you have to think of what to write about you will probably not be posting good material.

While I am still working on what my blog strategy will be I am learning from these guys that we have to make a presence before we can expect to be noticed.
