Where is God? – book review
All of have times in our lives where we struggle with the very title of this book, Where is God? You have asked the question before. Maybe you have not done it publicly but you have looked at the state of your life and wondered, how can God allow this to happen to me. In this book Dr. Townsend lets us know that he understands the depth of the problems that we face and offers solid biblical advice in how to work through those problems.
This book is not just another psychologist telling us how we should handle all of our problems. It is full of biblical truth to help us understand that God cares and desires to help us if we will do our part. One of the insights that he offers is that our view of God is not always correct. Through out the book you will begin to see God as who He is and not who you have dreamed him up to be. However, don’t think for a second that this book is not going to get personal.
“This isn’t any sort of blame game. I simply think one of the healthiest things anyone who is having problems can do is ask, ‘How am I contributing to this?’ In other words, we take the logs out of our eyes (Matt. 7:5). This could be an opportunity for you. If some of your experiences are caused by your own actions, then you may have some control or some choices over the outcomes.”
Where is God?, will get personal and it will challenge you to take ownership of your own life and the problems that you find yourself in.
I highly recommend this book to everyone.
