Calibrate Conference
So, Calibrate is finally here and I am excited to have been able to be a part of this event. Last night we got the chance to sit with a small group of like minded leaders and listen to Chris Folsmbee and Kevin Ragsdale share their hearts with us. Over the next several days I am going to try and communicate what was shared from their hearts to us as leaders.
The first session Chris went away from his what he had originally planned to share with us and just laid it on the line. He asked this questions several times, “Why are you trying to play God in your own life?” He noted that he has been a mess spiritually in recent weeks and months and has come to the conclusion that he was not resting in God’s promise and was trying to lead his own life unsure of where to go with everything. He shared a recent experience that he had at a conference he was teaching at and helped me recognize that I am definitely doing what God has created me to do. The challenge is am I letting God lead me in this journey through His church.
Four basic thoughts that Chris shared with us were:
1. The Call in your life:
“Your call, your station in life is where your deep gladness and the worlds deep hunger meet.”
-by Fredrick Beekner
Just a thought on what are you doing that matters to you the most. Have you satisfied that deep hunger in the role you currently have or do you need to start searching for that deep hunger in your life?
2. Lives are being changed:
Often we are leading students who don’t really share with us what life change is happening and no matter how little seems to be happening we need to know that the word of God changes lives. If we are caring for students and sharing the word with them then lives are changing.
3. Broken Relationships:
Are there people that you need to have a come to Jesus meeting with. All of us have conflict in our ministries if we are doing anything worthwhile. We could all probably do something that would allow us to be more compassionate towards those who struggle with what we are doing in ministry.
4. Contentment:
Why is it that we continue to search for something more all the time? We need to find ourselves being more content with where God has placed us. Let’s start finding time to just rest in God and stop looking for the next best thing. Just be content with what God has given you.
I will share some more thoughts as I go through the week.
