Book Review – Find Your Strongest Life
Find Your Strongest Life
by Marcus Buckingham
Over the last several weeks I have received a lot of grief for reading a book about leadership for women. It almost as if male leaders feel they have the corner on leadership. There is no need for us to learn from anyone other than male leaders. While many of them probably did not think this deeply about what they were saying to me. I believe this book was a great read!
Marcus Buckingham does a great job of introducing us to the struggles and issues that women face as leaders. Many of which are not a lot different than male leaders. In this book we learn what challenges women face as they look at their lives and try to succeed. Marcus lays out nine different “Life Roles’ that define our character. They are as follows:
Advisor
Caretaker
Creator
Equalizer
Influencer
Pioneer
Weaver
Motivator
Teacher
These nine roles are the places we could find oursleves if we were not to look at our lives and find the strongest part of our joys. In the chapters that follow he begins to show us how we can understand where we fit and what roles we are playing. There is great instruction and methods for us to find our strongest life and bring fulfillment.
As a male leader I believe that you could relabel this book from the perspective of emotional leadership and the base of readership would increase. If you have a wife or women that you work for or that work for you, this book will help you be a better leader.
Personal Opinion: Great Read!
