I am on a journey to see how God will use me in this messy thing called the "Church." While on that journey I have just recently moved to a new role as a Sr. Pastor. Not real sure what that means really, but God is moving and I will follow the wave as it goes.

Book Review – Real Church

Real Church
By Larry Crabblcrabb

What has your church experience been?  Have you attended a church for years to only never feel like you were living in community?  Has the Bible become a larger part of your life?

These are all questions that all of us have asked and struggled with as we have attended church in the past and maybe even in you’re current situation.  As a Pastor, Christian Educator, and Psychologist Larry Crabb attempts to share with us what the church should be like.  Through his experiences and the stories of others he shares where he see the fall of the American church and even strives to give us a few things that could help us get to what he call “Real Church.”

While I would agree with a lot of what is shared in this book.  There are some things that I struggle to see in this book.  It is a trend that I am beginning to see in lots of publications.  We have been down the road of evangelism the last several years in most publications and it appears that we are now moving towards the other side of the pendulum.  The church is afraid of being called “Seeker Sensitive” and has now focused all their attention on being discipleship based. While this is good and I would not disagree with what is presented in “Real Church” I do not feel that he addresses the church as a whole.

Pastors, this is a book that would be good for you to read.  Church this is a book that will help you address what you are really looking for in church, rather than finding a place that will entertain you.

Personal Opinion:  Good read
