I am on a journey to see how God will use me in this messy thing called the "Church." While on that journey I have just recently moved to a new role as a Sr. Pastor. Not real sure what that means really, but God is moving and I will follow the wave as it goes.

Renewal

I have the opportunity to work that really thinks about it’s staff and wants the best for them and their ministries.  Our ministry staff is required to take a single day during each month to get out of the office and to spend some time being renewed.  The whole idea is that you are not taking a day off nor are you out playing golf with your friends.  You are to spend the day reading, writing, researching, praying and simply focusing on you and God.

One is not supposed to check voice mail or email.  We are not to go calling we are to simply take some time to ourselves and connect with God.  So, yesterday was my renewal day and I needed it.  Here is what I did:

- went to the gym
- shower at the church and picked up a few books that I wanted to read
- headed to a different part of town
- sat in Bread Co. for several hours listening to podcasts, reading, writing a little on a sermon series that we are starting this week.
- went over to St. Louis Christian College  hoping to join their chapel service and hear a good sermon, they were doing a survey
-  grabbed two students and went to lunch ( Never Eat Alone, great book)
- came back to town and had some conversations with other Student Ministers
- went home and played with my boys
- worked in the yard, Spring is here and the plant beds need to be cleaned up

Overall, I had a very relaxing day and really got to spend sometime connecting with God and being refreshed.  I am back in the office and ready to roll, it’s Wednesday.
