I am on a journey to see how God will use me in this messy thing called the "Church." While on that journey I have just recently moved to a new role as a Sr. Pastor. Not real sure what that means really, but God is moving and I will follow the wave as it goes.

Social Justice

In light of all the organizations that are reaching out and trying to make a difference from a social justice perspective, we are reminded that we are to care for the poor.  There are so many different ways to make an impact that I could not even begin to mention them here.  A few that we have seen lately do come to mind.  Tom’s Shoes is reaching a whole new audience with it’s new marketing relationship with ATT.  Gap is now selling clothes and giving you the chance to save a child and help in research for aids.  Whole Foods sells grocery bags that if you buy them you can give a child food for an entire year and go green at the same time.  The opportunities are all around us.

I feel like we as Christians are often put out by these things and think that we give of our tithes and offerings at the church what more do you expect from us.  In Galatians we find Paul recieving the right hand of fellowship from the Apostles and beign sent out to reach the Gentiles with the gospel message.  However, the Apostles asked him to make sure and do one thing while he is out teaching the cross of Christ. “remember the poor,” as they travel ane encounter many people who will be in need along the way.

“What we do for ourselves dies with us.  What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.”  Albert Pine

I think that we as Christians should probably take a little more time to recognize what is happening around us and instead of shrugging our shoulders follow in the footsteps of the younger generation.  Notice the poor and do something that is immortal.
