I am on a journey to see how God will use me in this messy thing called the "Church." While on that journey I have just recently moved to a new role as a Sr. Pastor. Not real sure what that means really, but God is moving and I will follow the wave as it goes.

the Trust Factor

In leadership we are all trying to build trust with those who we work with.  Maxwell refers to it as having change in your pocket.  There are times when you use it and there are times when you build it.  Over the past several months I have been pretty bogged down and not really focus on leading my team.  In a lot of ways I have probably lost some trust and even lost some change along the way.

That season is over and I am moving towards reconciling some of that and even building into those on my team at a greater level.  I am excited about where we are headed and feel that things are good.  We just need them to be great because our cause is calling us to do that.  Jesus is not looking for leaders who are just good.  He wants great leaders!  Great leaders understand what it means to build trust.

As I have been working through some of this over the last couple of weeks here in an excerpt from a book called, Leading Talents Leading Teams, by Lee Ellis.

Key Trust Builders (Leading Talents, Leading Teams, Lee Ellis)

  • a.    Trusting and Open.  Candid. Share their true feeling, not spin.
  • Honest.  Exhibit integrity and authenticity.  Act the same no matter who is around. Walk the talk.
  • Transparent.  No private agenda, no surprises.  What you see is what you get.
  • Genuinely care.  Concerned about the needs of others as evidenced by actions, not just words.
  • Listen.  Listen carefully, non judgmentally, with empathy.
  • Seek and value others opinions.  (before making decisions)
  • Support.  Reach out to help others.Build relationships.  Socialize, engage in fun activities.
