Mentoring
What a great morning yesterday. I had the chance to turn the pulpit over to a student who is in our ministry. Several months ago he came to me and was really struggling with a few issues and I sent him down a path of trying to discover a reconnect with God. He actually took the advice and turned what he learned into a sermon that he preached yesterday morning. He did an incredible job.
I am finding it to be more and more fun to mentor students and see them grow up and find their identity in Christ and joy in church. Here is the basic outline of what he preached.
Ecclesiastes 5:2
God – whatever comes to mind when you think about God is what is most important to you
I. God is Holy
II. God is eternal
III. God is all knowing
IV. God is all powerful
V. God is fair and just
Some fairly heavy stuff that he covered and shared with our students. As part of the path I sent him on he did read Francis Chan’s book Crazy Love. There were two funny things that he said:
“I am hot!”
“What would you do if God turned your wife into a pillar of salt?”
On Wednesday the podcast will be up and you can listen to the whole thing by going to our student ministry web-site at www.hsmweb.com
